Her Thinks

by Mary Jones

My great-grandmother Mary Jones, known to her family as Nono, produced occasional booklets of her ideas. They bear a striking resemblance to a 1950s form of Twitter. I have taken the step of adding numbers to her thinks, for ease of reference. I reproduce them here not because I agree with all of them, but in memory of her.

About this book:—

The success of several small booklets, privately published, has encouraged me to elaborate and publish a more comprehensive book, which includes some of my earlier works.

The inspired thoughts contained in this volume were mostly notes in the early hours of the morning, and in many cases were the results of the very valuable teaching acquired from my great friends and advisors in Mystical and Psychic matters. My readers have informed me that they have received great comfort from the lines and that they are a constant bedside companion.

One preacher of note has kindly stated that titles for his sermons will be taken from my book.

  1. 1952

This will be an age of higher perception.
  2. Life is mostly hard going whatever the age or time, if easy it usually means an age of spiritual starvation.
  3. Faith is inside everyone— it just needs finding.
  4. Some people relax so much they can never get started again.
  5. An Atheist will be a man who, not believing, is ruthless.
An Agnostic just "not knowing" will be kind and conscientious until he becomes Gnostic.
  6. Are the glands of the body attached by invisible threads to the Psyche which affects them and they in turn affect the body in the very individual way?
  7. The Lord Jesus— the most highly evolved— who already perfected and absorbed into God— willingly came to earth to show us how to live a perfect life and to prove life after death.
  8. Fascinating to hear the so-called clever people denouncing God and, because they are clever, the masses think they must be right— not realising that this so-called cleverness is blinding them to the light of the real truths— humility leads to enlightenment.
  9. Is superstition— past experience!
  10. To die— is like being invited into a beautiful, happy, loving home instead of standing lonely in the dark outside.
